The very first tank was used in World War One, which was at the start of the twentieth century.
It was a British tank, and it was called the Mark I.
It was a heavy tank, but because it had treads it could go anywhere it wanted to, unlike other vehicles.
Unlike today's tank with their long cannons, the early tanks had guns.
I did research on YouTube, and this is the video I found.
Check it out, it's cool.
Boy, that tank is as slow as a slug. According to the BBC, the Mark I tank could go up to 5.9 kilometers an hour. Here's some other stuff about the tank.
